A Historic Cold Spring Village Wedding with Kristen and Mike

If you're looking for wedding inspiration to host a gorgeous outdoor affair, you'll definitely want to check out this Historic Cold Spring Village wedding! I highly recommend this venue to anyone searching for a laid-back, summer camp vibe for their wedding. As a wedding photographer who had an outdoor wedding myself, I know how important it is for a venue to tick all the right boxes. I’ve put together this post from my favorite Historic Cold Spring Village wedding to help you decide if it’s the perfect venue for you!

About the Historic Cold Spring Village Wedding Venue

Historic Cold Spring Village is located in the beautiful town of Cape May, New Jersey and dates all the way back to the 1800s. If you’re searching for Cape May wedding venues, then you probably already know what a special and magical town it is, but this venue is a whole world of its own! The village itself has a ton of vintage buildings and scenic natural backdrops for a variety of fun photos!

The ceremony space has a lovely gazebo where you can exchange your vows and plenty of wooden benches for your guests. Cocktail hour is hosted both inside and out in the courtyard of a historic tavern on the property.

The reception is held outside under beautiful towering trees, next to the pavilion where you and your guests will dance all night long. The venue provides the cutest picnic tables! There is also plenty of space for decor and lawn games alike. It’s truly one of the most unique venues there is! From what my couples have told me, the Historic Cold Spring Village wedding cost is affordable too.

Kristen and Mike chose to accentuate the beauty of Historic Cold Spring Village with colorful florals (my favorite!). The stunning flowers were perfectly arranged and curated by local florist Bad Cat Farm. They always do a tremendous job for their couples!

Tips for a Wedding at Historic Cold Spring Village

When you’re planning your Historic Cold Spring Village wedding, you’ll need to plan for lodging and locations to get ready on the big day. Luckily, Cape May has a plethora of gorgeous hotels, from boutique to large and everything in between. There are also lots of rental homes and Airbnbs available with that distinct Cape May seashore charm! For this wedding, Kristen chose to get ready with her sisters in a nearby house with beautiful natural light. A bright getting ready space is always high on my recommendation list!

You'll also need to book transportation to and from the venue. A very popular transport option in Cape May is the classic trolley! In most cases, trolleys are big enough to fit your full wedding party and even some family members too. Best of all, they are aesthetically charming and fun to use in photos. A local favorite shuttle option (and my favorite option too) is the AC Jitney! The Jitney is best known for its public shuttle service throughout the islands of the Jersey Shore, but they offer private rentals too. If neither of those options are your style, there are other companies around with your standard limo and shuttle options as well.

My last and perhaps most important tip for your wedding at Historic Cold Spring Village is to hire a wedding planner and/or day-of coordinator. Since weddings at this venue are more on the DIY side, it's incedibly helpful to have someone running the show for you! As a couple, you want to enjoy your day, and you can't do that when you're the one everyone comes to for logisitcal questions. A day-of coordinator takes everything off your plate, and it helps your other vendors focus on their jobs too. Kristen and Mike used a local company called Shore Thing Event Services, and they made sure the day went smoothly without any stress for the couple!

Meet the Couple

I had so much fun shooting Historic Cold Spring Village wedding photos with Kristen and Mike. They both have a love for nature and history, which is exactly what made the venue a perfect fit! They loved the historic buildings around the village and how they seamlessly blend into the nature of Cape May. From the romantic towering trees, to the sunset-ready field, it was all the ideal match!
